Earth Day

Earth Day is an opportunity every year to think about how we operate, as companies, organizations and individuals. It is not just a symbolic date in the calendar. It is a reminder that the way we use energy, water and mobility has a real impact on the environment around us.

A technology company can also contribute to making operations more sustainable and efficient. That is why at K_CORP, we have long focused on reducing the energy demands of our operations and using modern technologies that help manage resources more responsibly.

Energy from the sun

Our building is equipped with photovoltaic panels with an output of 27 kWp. We can immediately use the energy produced in our operations and store the surplus in a battery storage system with a capacity of 60 kWh.

Each year, we can produce approximately 33 MWh of electricity, which we use directly in the company. Our own energy production helps us reduce dependence on external sources while managing daily consumption more efficiently.

Energy from the ground

An important step toward energy efficiency was also the use of natural energy from the ground. We use a ground-to-water heat pump for both heating and cooling the building.

Thanks to this solution, we managed to reduce the building’s energy demand for heating and cooling from approximately 150 MWh per year to approximately 36 MWh. The heat pump uses the stable temperature beneath the Earth’s surface and converts it into energy that we can use efficiently throughout the year.

Smart energy use

We try to use energy as efficiently as possible. We monitor electricity prices on the spot market and optimize energy use accordingly. When energy from the grid is cheaper, we use it. When it is more expensive, we can use more of our own production or the energy stored in batteries.

This approach helps us manage costs while increasing the company’s energy independence.

Electromobility for everyday travel

Sustainability is not only about buildings, but also about mobility. For short work-related routes, we use electric cars that help reduce emissions while efficiently using the energy we can produce ourselves.

Electric mobility is a natural complement to our own energy production and represents a practical way to reduce the environmental footprint of everyday travel.

Rainwater collection

An important part of a responsible approach to the environment is also water management. We collect rainwater from the roofs of our building and direct it into underground tanks. We then use it to water the greenery around the building.

This system helps save drinking water while using natural resources that would otherwise flow into the sewage system.

On the right path toward energy independence

Our annual electricity consumption is approximately 50 to 60 MWh. Thanks to our own photovoltaics, we can produce approximately 33 MWh of energy ourselves, meaning a significant part of our consumption is covered by our own production and we only draw the remaining portion from the grid. We are not fully energy self-sufficient yet, but every step brings us closer.

Earth Day is therefore more of a reminder than a goal. A reminder that technology can be not only a tool for progress, but also a way to protect the environment we live in.
